Chesterbrook is proud to introduce its coaching staff for the 2025 Season.  Bringing together decades of experience with competitive swimming and coaching, Chesterbrook's coaching staff is one of the league's best, most-seasoned, and most successful.  In addition to their invaluable contributions to the team's success in the water, our coaches also embody and teach the spirit of Chesterbrook -- hard work, leadership, dedication, commitment to excellence, team work and sportsmanship.  Leaders on the deck, as well as in their respective communities, Chesterbrook's coaches are role models on the deck, as well as in life.

Riley Pfadenhauer Head Coach, Chesterbrook Swimming

Coach Riley joined Chesterbrook last summer after spending five years as the head coach for the McLean Marlins and a summer as the Assistant Head Coach for the Riverbend Stingrays. In addition to summer league, Riley has six years of experience coaching at the club level with both 757Swim and York Swim Club. He has also spent three years at the Madeira School working as both the Associate Head Coach and Interim Head Coach. During his stops at McLean, Riverbend and Madeira, Riley has had the pleasure to work alongside Coach Brenna. Together, they share a love for coaching and believe in pushing swimmers to achieve their best in an environment that is inclusive and supportive. At Chesterbrook, their goal is to ensure that all Tiger Sharks have a memorable and positive summer experience while gaining friendships and important life skills along the way.

During the day, Riley teaches 8th grade Civics and is co-sponsor of the student government program at Mark Twain Middle School. He holds a B.A. in Government from William & Mary, and a M.A. in Teaching from American University. When not teaching or coaching you can find Coach Riley exercising, playing Catan, or struggling through a crossword puzzle.

Brenna Broadus Associate Head Coach, Chesterbrook Swimming

Brenna is excited to return to the Chesterbrook family! She is currently the Aquatics Director and Head Swim Coach at The Madeira School. Prior to joining Madeira, Brenna coached with Machine Aquatics and has experience working with all ability levels, ranging from beginner to Junior National level competitors. She has coached several athletes to the DI and DII college levels. Brenna graduated from Denison University with a B.S. in Psychology and Biology. She was a team captain, 12x NCAA All-American and a 2X NCAA Academic All-American swimmer. She was introduced to NVSL swimming in the summer of 2016, as the Associate Head Coach at Overlee. She was there for five years, both in the summer and as Head Coach of their winter swim program. She spent two summers at McLean Swim & Tennis and a summer at Riverbend Country Club, where she worked with Coach Riley. They share a passion for coaching, motivating, and supporting all swimmers to reach their goals. When she's not at the pool, you can find Brenna at her home in Falls Church spending time with her husband, Daniel, and twin daughters (future Tigersharks!).

Katherine
Katherine Stuver Head Coach, Little Jaws

Katherine is thrilled to return as the Head Coach of our Little Jaws program. Coach Katherine started at Chesterbrook in 2015 as our Little Jaws Head Coach, revamping our developmental program. After just one season, she was hooked on everything Chesterbrook! In 2016, Katherine moved from the upper pool to our lower pool as Head Coach for Chesterbrook Swimming. Prior to her time with us, Katherine served as part of the senior coaching staff for neighboring NVSL swim team, Tuckahoe, since 2005. She was Tuckahoe’s Assistant Head Coach for the last six years of her time there. Katherine is a former coach for the York Swim Club and grew up swimming for Tuckahoe and Potomac Valley Swimming year-round. She was a 4-year scholar athlete and captain of the swim team at Langley High School and a 4-year scholar athlete and captain at Franklin & Marshall College (Division III). Katherine’s resume away from the pool is equally impressive – with a VA Licensure in Special Education, K-12, and a Master of Education, Special Education from George Mason University. During the school year, you can find Katherine at Arlington’s Discovery Elementary School where she works as a special education teacher, practicing yoga, or spending time with her daughter (Emma), husband (Colin), and rescue dog (Lucky)!

Andrew
Andrew Lohman Lower Pool Coach

Andrew is thrilled to be returning to Chesterbrook as part of the 2026 coaching staff. He joined the Tigersharks in 2012 at age 5 and began swimming with Potomac Valley Swimming at age 6, competing for Machine Aquatics and Arlington Aquatic Club. He was also a captain of the McLean High School swim team, where he led his team to a district title and anchored the 200 medley relay at the VHSL Class 6 State Championship. Andrew served as a Little Jaws coach for three years and has continued giving private lessons to swimmers of all abilities at Chesterbrook. He has also volunteered with Arlington’s Adapted Aquatics program, teaching swimming to children with disabilities. Currently, he attends the University of Virginia, where he is studying engineering and competes on both the club swim and club water polo teams. He looks forward to getting to know this season’s swimmers and is eager to help Chesterbrook reclaim the NVSL throne. Go Tigersharks!

Izzy
Izzy Bernasek Lower Pool Coach

Izzy is so excited to be returning to Chesterbrook for her first summer as a Lower Pool coach! She has been a member of the Chesterbrook community since she was 5 years old and can’t wait for another summer. During her senior year of high school, Izzy served as a varsity captain for the Stone Ridge swim, field hockey, and lacrosse teams. She discovered her love for coaching in 2024 through the Little Jaws program and her involvement with teaching girls' lacrosse. Outside of athletics, Izzy has volunteered as a teacher’s assistant in the St. Bart’s inclusion program during her junior and senior years. She is currently a rising sophomore at the University of Notre Dame where she plays lacrosse and is studying Finance and Psychology. Izzy is looking forward to another great season for the Tigersharks. Go Chesterbrook!

Liam Khoriaty Lower Pool Coach

Liam is super excited to be returning to Chesterbrook to begin his first year as a Lower Pool Coach in the new 2026 staff. Liam began swimming for Chesterbrook at 5 years old, becoming a member in 2013. While being a part of Chesterbrook, Liam began swimming in the winter with Machine at 9 and later moved on to Arlington Aquatics Club. Before coaching Little Jaws, Liam volunteered for Adaptive Aquatics in Arlington, a club that helps teach swimming to children with disabilities. After coaching Little Jaws for 2 years, giving private lessons and becoming a large spirited factor on the team, Liam wanted to continue by becoming a Lower Pool Coach. Currently Liam is attending San Diego State University studying Finance. He cannot wait to get back into the Chesterbrook spirit, help swimmers achieve their goals for the summer, and bring home the triple crown.

Olivia Burgeson Lower Pool Coach

Olivia is so excited to be returning to Chesterbrook for her first summer as a lower pool coach! She started swimming on Chesterbrook when she was 5 years old and continued to dabble in club swim up until she was 13, and was on her high school team for all four years. Additionally, Olivia played lacrosse her entire life, winning the state championship her junior and senior year. She coached little jaws for three years where she found her love for coaching. Olivia also participated in volunteer lacrosse coaching throughout her high school years. Currently, Olivia is a rising sophomore at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville where she is pursuing a major in Finance. Olivia is looking forward to another amazing summer at Chesterbrook! Go Tigersharks!

Shane Monroe Lower Pool Coach

Shane is excited to be returning to Chesterbrook as part of the 2026 coaching staff. He has been a part of the Chesterbrook community for years, growing up on the team and developing both as a swimmer and as a leader within the program. Over time, Chesterbrook has become more than just a summer team for him, it has been a place that shaped his work ethic, competitiveness, and sense of community. Shane has served as a Little Jaws coach for multiple seasons, where he found a strong passion for coaching and mentoring younger swimmers. Through this role, he has worked with athletes of all levels, helping them build confidence in the water while also improving their technique and understanding of the sport. His experience on the team has allowed him to carry forward the traditions and energy that make Chesterbrook special. Currently, Shane attends Pepperdine University, where he is studying Business Administration. He continues to stay involved in athletics and training, while also taking on leadership roles that reflect his commitment to teamwork and personal growth. He is looking forward to getting to know this season’s swimmers and is eager to help them improve, compete, and enjoy their time in the pool. Go Chesterbrook! Amy Marra Team Representative

Amy is very excited for her role as a swim team rep. She and her husband, Doug, and children Mason (14) and Finn (12) have been members of Chesterbrook since 2017. When joining, they looked at the closest pool to their home and little did they realize how much Chesterbrook would become such a significant part of their summers! Amy has volunteered in numerous roles including ribbons, timing, officiating, and B meet coordinator. You can usually find Doug grilling during one of the Monday night B meets. When Amy is not spending her time at Chesterbrook, she works as an Account Director at Adobe. Amy is looking forward to supporting the Chesterbrook Swim Team, continuing to make memories with friends and family, and helping to give that same magical feeling her family experiences each summer to other families. Go Tiger Sharks!

Jen Cory Team Representative

Jen can't wait for swim season and her new role as a swim team rep. She and her husband, Brett, joined Chesterbrook in 2015. They have two swimmers on the team: McKenzie (16) and Maddox (14). Chesterbrook holds a very special place in their hearts and is the best part of their summer! For the past several years on the Chesterbrook swim team, Jen has led our team of officials as the Head Ref. Jen has spent lots of time pool side as competitive swimmer, lifeguard, volunteer, and coach. Outside of loving to watch her children swim and play baseball, Jen spends her time working out, traveling, and working at the Pentagon. Jen is looking forward to another great summer at the pool.
